  • 1 cup (240 ml) eggnog, homemade or store-bought
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk, whole or 2% (or almond, oat, or coconut milk for dairy-free)
  • 12 teaspoons maple syrup or brown sugar (optional)
  • Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Brew 1-2 shots of espresso (about 2-4 oz / 60-120 ml) using an espresso machine, stovetop maker, or strong brewed coffee.
  2. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine 1 cup eggnog and 1/2 cup milk. Warm gently until steaming but not boiling (about 150Β°F / 65Β°C).
  3. Froth the warm eggnog and milk mixture using a milk frother, steam wand, or by shaking vigorously in a jar with a lid for about 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup or brown sugar if desired, adjusting sweetness to taste.
  5. Pour the hot espresso into a mug. Slowly add the frothed eggnog mixture, holding back foam with a spoon, then top with remaining froth.
  6. Sprinkle a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg and ground cinnamon on top. Optionally, add a cinnamon stick as a stirrer.
  7. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

Warm eggnog and milk gently to avoid curdling. Use freshly ground espresso beans for best flavor. Adjust sweetener carefully as eggnog is already sweet. Serve immediately for best taste and texture.
