A comforting and elegant London Fog tea latte featuring a creamy lavender vanilla foam that adds a floral twist to the classic Earl Grey tea latte.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 2 cups (475 ml) water, freshly boiled
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk of choice (whole milk preferred, oat milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 tablespoon dried culinary lavender buds (food grade)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons sugar or honey (adjust to taste; maple syrup also works)
  • Optional: a pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Boil 2 cups (475 ml) of fresh water and pour over 2 Earl Grey tea bags in a teapot or heatproof pitcher. Steep for 4-5 minutes.
  2. Pour 1 cup (240 ml) of milk into a small saucepan. Add 1 tablespoon dried culinary lavender buds. Warm over low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not boil.
  3. Remove saucepan from heat and strain out lavender buds using a fine mesh strainer.
  4. Stir in 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract and 1-2 teaspoons sugar or honey into the warm lavender-infused milk until dissolved.
  5. Froth the warm milk using a milk frother, handheld whisk, or jar-shaking method until light and creamy foam forms (30-60 seconds).
  6. Pour the steeped Earl Grey tea into a mug, leaving room for foam. Spoon or pour the creamy lavender vanilla foam over the tea.
  7. Optionally, sprinkle a tiny pinch of dried lavender or ground cinnamon on top.
  8. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

Warm milk to about 140°F (60°C) for best frothing results. Use fresh milk and quality Earl Grey tea. Strain lavender buds well to avoid bitterness. Froth milk longer for more volume. If no frother, shake warm milk in a jar with a tight lid for 30-60 seconds.
