A quick and easy copycat recipe for a creamy, minty shamrock shake perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any festive occasion. This shake blends vanilla ice cream, whole milk, and mint extract for a smooth, refreshing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (475 ml) vanilla ice cream (full-fat recommended)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk (can substitute almond milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 teaspoon mint extract (pure peppermint or spearmint)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • A few drops green food coloring (optional, natural options like spirulina powder)
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Maraschino cherry (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure out 2 cups of vanilla ice cream, 1 cup of whole milk, 1 teaspoon of mint extract, 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, and optional green food coloring.
  2. Place the vanilla ice cream and milk in the blender jar first to avoid clumps.
  3. Add the powdered sugar and mint extract next. Add 3-5 drops of green food coloring if desired.
  4. Blend on medium speed for 30-45 seconds until the mixture is silky and uniform. Avoid over-blending to keep it thick and creamy.
  5. Taste and adjust by adding more mint extract or powdered sugar if needed, then blend briefly again.
  6. Pour the shake into tall glasses, top with whipped cream, and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Notes

For a thicker shake, use less milk or add ice cubes before blending. Avoid overusing green food coloring to prevent a bitter taste. Chilling glasses before serving keeps the shake colder longer. Vegan and adult variations are possible with substitutions.
