A quick and easy creamy strawberry matcha latte that balances earthy matcha with sweet strawberries for a refreshing and comforting drink, perfect for spring and summer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder (preferably ceremonial grade)
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped (fresh or thawed frozen)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk of choice (almond milk recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup, adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 45 ice cubes (optional, for chilled latte)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberry puree: Add chopped strawberries and honey (or maple syrup) into your blender. Pulse until smooth but slightly textured, about 30 seconds. Add a splash of milk if too thick.
  2. Make the matcha: Sift 1 teaspoon matcha powder into a small bowl. Add 2 tablespoons hot (not boiling) water (~175°F/80°C) and whisk briskly in a zigzag motion until frothy and dissolved, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Combine and blend: Pour strawberry puree, matcha mixture, remaining milk (about 1 cup/240 ml), and vanilla extract into blender. Add ice cubes if desired. Blend for 20-30 seconds until creamy and frothy.
  4. Serve immediately: Pour into a mug or glass. Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice or a dusting of matcha powder if desired. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.

Notes

Always sift matcha powder before whisking to avoid clumps. Use hot but not boiling water (~175°F/80°C) to prevent bitterness. Adjust sweetness to taste. For a richer version, substitute milk with half-and-half or coconut cream. Use frozen strawberries thawed and drained if fresh are unavailable. Serve fresh within 10 minutes or refrigerate up to 24 hours, shaking before drinking.
