Instructions

  1. Unwrap mozzarella sticks and place on a parchment-lined plate. Freeze for at least 30 minutes to prevent cheese from melting too quickly.
  2. Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour seasoned with salt and pepper, one with beaten eggs mixed with a splash of cold water, and one with breadcrumb mixture (Italian-style breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, dried herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper).
  3. Dredge each frozen mozzarella stick in flour, shaking off excess. Dip into egg wash, letting excess drip off. Press into breadcrumb mixture evenly. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb step once more for extra crunch. Place coated sticks on a parchment-lined tray.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange sticks in a single layer without touching. Spray tops lightly with cooking spray.
  6. Air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Watch carefully to avoid overcooking; cheese should be melty but not leaking.
