A quick and easy recipe for perfectly crispy salmon skin cooked in an air fryer, topped with a sticky, sweet honey garlic glaze. Perfect for busy weeknights and family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each), preferably wild-caught
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey (local wildflower preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure crisp skin.
  2. Rub each fillet with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together minced garlic, honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch.
  6. Cook for 7-9 minutes depending on thickness (about 1 inch thick) until salmon flakes easily and skin is crispy. Avoid flipping unless necessary.
  7. Brush the honey garlic glaze over the salmon fillets during the last 2 minutes of cooking and return to air fryer to caramelize the glaze.
  8. Remove salmon from air fryer and let rest for 2 minutes to redistribute juices.
  9. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top before serving.

Notes

Patting the salmon dry is crucial for crispy skin. Preheat the air fryer for best results. Brush glaze near the end to avoid burning. Use a meat thermometer to check for 125°F–130°F internal temperature for medium doneness. Leftovers can be reheated in a skillet or air fryer to revive crispiness.
