This Best Apple Cider Margarita combines reposado tequila, fresh apple cider, lime juice, and orange liqueur with a warm cinnamon sugar rim for the perfect fall cocktail. It’s balanced, easy to make, and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces reposado tequila (or blanco)
  • 2 ounces apple cider (unfiltered)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Ice (large cubes preferred)
  • Apple slices or cinnamon sticks (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. On a small plate, mix together 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon until evenly combined.
  2. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass or margarita glass. Dip the rim into the cinnamon sugar mixture, rotating gently to coat evenly. Tap off any excess. Set aside.
  3. Juice enough limes to yield 1 ounce fresh lime juice per drink. Strain to remove seeds or pulp if desired.
  4. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  5. Add 2 ounces reposado tequila, 2 ounces apple cider, 1 ounce orange liqueur, and 1 ounce fresh lime juice to the shaker.
  6. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels frosty cold.
  7. Fill the rimmed glass with fresh ice.
  8. Strain the margarita into the prepared glass.
  9. Garnish with a thin apple slice or cinnamon stick, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use fresh apple cider (not apple juice) and fresh lime juice. Large ice cubes melt slower and prevent dilution. If making a batch, mix the liquid ingredients ahead and refrigerate; add ice only when serving. Adjust sweetness by varying the orange liqueur or lime juice depending on the sweetness of your cider.
