Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 log (8 oz) goat cheese, softened
  • 1 block (8 oz) sharp white cheddar, sliced
  • 1 round (6 oz) Brie cheese
  • ¼ cup black olives, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream, thinned with a splash of milk if needed
  • 4 oz prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz salami, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup pomegranate seeds
  • ¼ cup dried apricots, sliced
  • ¼ cup roasted, salted almonds
  • 1 box of your favorite crackers
  • 1 baguette, sliced and lightly toasted
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (optional)
  • Edible glitter or dust (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Goat Cheese Web (5 minutes): Place the softened goat cheese log in the center of your board. Using a small spatula or the back of a spoon, spread it out into a rough circle, about 6 inches in diameter.
  2. Create the Web Lines (3 minutes): Fill a small piping bag or zip-top bag with the sour cream. Starting from the center of the goat cheese, pipe a line outwards to the edge, like a spoke on a wheel. Repeat 6-8 times, spacing them evenly. Then, starting from the center again, pipe concentric circles connecting the spokes to create a spider web pattern.
  3. Add the Spider (2 minutes): Place 3-4 slices of black olive in the center of the web to form the spider’s body. Use smaller slivers of olive to create 8 legs extending outwards. Sprinkle black sesame seeds around the web.
  4. Arrange the Hard Cheeses (5 minutes): Fan out the slices of sharp white cheddar on the left side of the board. Place the Brie round on the right side. Optionally, cut a small ‘X’ into the top of the Brie rind.
  5. Add the Meats (3 minutes): Fold the prosciutto slices into loose ribbons and place near the cheddar. Roll the salami slices into cylinders and tuck next to the Brie.
  6. Fill in the Gaps (5 minutes): Scatter pomegranate seeds around the board. Place dried apricots and almonds in small clusters. Tuck rosemary sprigs for greenery. Arrange crackers and toasted baguette slices around the perimeter.
  7. Final Drizzle (1 minute): Drizzle honey over the Brie and hard cheddar. Avoid the web itself to keep the design visible.
  8. Serve Immediately: Let the board sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes after assembling so the cheeses soften.

Notes

Let goat cheese sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before spreading for easier handling. Use a thin, steady stream of sour cream for web lines. Add pomegranate seeds last to prevent sliding. Slice cheddar and Brie about ¼-inch thick. The spider doesn’t need to be perfect; imperfection adds charm.
