A creamy, savory slow cooker chicken dish featuring ranch seasoning, bacon, and cheese for a tender, juicy, and addictive comfort meal that’s easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) ranch seasoning mix
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions or fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, about 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cooled.
  2. Place chicken breasts at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, ranch seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, sour cream, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until smooth.
  4. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until chicken is tender and easily shredded.
  6. Remove chicken breasts and shred with two forks. Return shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir to combine with the sauce.
  7. Fold in crumbled bacon and remaining shredded cheddar cheese. Let sit on warm for 10-15 minutes to melt the cheese.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley before serving.

Notes

If the sauce is too thick after shredding, add a splash of chicken broth or milk to loosen it without diluting flavor. Use chicken thighs for juicier meat and adjust cooking time accordingly. For dairy-free, substitute cream cheese and sour cream with plant-based alternatives and omit cheese or use vegan cheese.
