A quick and easy recipe for crispy chicken wings cooked in the air fryer and coated with a sweet and spicy honey buffalo glaze. Perfect for game day or casual dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes, skin-on
  • 1 tablespoon aluminum-free baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup buffalo sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Blue cheese or ranch dressing (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry thoroughly with paper towels.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss wings with baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika if using, ensuring even coating.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 5 minutes.
  4. Arrange wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between pieces.
  5. Cook at 380°F (193°C) for 12 minutes, flipping halfway at 6 minutes.
  6. Increase temperature to 400°F (204°C) and cook for another 8 minutes, flipping once at 4 minutes.
  7. While wings cook, whisk together melted butter, buffalo sauce, and honey in a small bowl until smooth.
  8. Transfer cooked wings to a large bowl, pour the honey buffalo glaze over them, and toss gently to coat evenly.
  9. Serve immediately with blue cheese or ranch dressing and celery sticks if desired.

Notes

Pat wings dry thoroughly before seasoning to ensure crispiness. Use aluminum-free baking powder to avoid metallic taste. Flip wings halfway through cooking for even browning. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary. Toss wings in glaze while hot for best coating. Reheat leftovers in air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness. For spicier wings, add cayenne to seasoning or increase buffalo sauce in glaze. Dairy-free butter alternatives can be used to make the recipe dairy-free.
