Ingredients

  • Mozzarella sticks
  • Thin slices of bacon
  • Eggs, beaten
  • Breadcrumbs (regular or panko)
  • Parmesan cheese
  • All-purpose flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Cooking oil (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mozzarella sticks by cutting block mozzarella into equal-sized sticks, about 3 inches long, if not using pre-packaged sticks.
  2. Tightly wrap each mozzarella stick with a slice of bacon, ensuring the ends overlap slightly. Secure the bacon with toothpicks if needed.
  3. Set up the breading station with flour in one shallow bowl, beaten eggs in another, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper in a third.
  4. Dip each bacon-wrapped mozzarella stick into the flour, then the egg, and finally roll it in the breadcrumb mixture to coat evenly.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan or deep fryer to approximately 350°F (175°C). Test the temperature by dropping in a small piece of breadcrumb—it should sizzle and brown quickly.
  6. Carefully place the coated sticks into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the sticks with tongs and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
