These crispy football-shaped crescent roll pizza pockets are an easy, crowd-pleasing snack perfect for game day. They feature a buttery, flaky crust with spicy pepperoni and gooey mozzarella cheese inside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2025 slices pepperoni (regular or turkey)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce or marinara
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for football laces)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll crescent dough and press perforated seams together to form rectangles (about 4-5).
  3. Shape each rectangle into a football shape by pinching ends and rounding sides.
  4. Spread about 1 teaspoon pizza sauce on each dough football, leaving a border around edges.
  5. Add about 2 tablespoons shredded mozzarella and 4-5 pepperoni slices on top. Sprinkle Italian seasoning if using.
  6. Cover filling with another football-shaped piece of dough and pinch edges firmly to seal. Crimp edges with a fork.
  7. Brush tops with beaten egg for a golden crisp.
  8. Make 3-4 small horizontal slits across center of each pocket and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  10. Cool on a rack for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Ensure edges are well sealed and crimped to prevent leaking. Use freshly shredded mozzarella for best melt. Chill pockets for 10 minutes before baking if dough leaks. Avoid overcrowding baking sheet for even crispness. Reheat in oven to maintain crisp crust; avoid microwaving.
