Crispy Mummy Hot Dog Crescent Roll Bites

Crispy Mummy Hot Dog Crescent Roll Bites - featured image

A quick and easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in buttery crescent roll dough with honey mustard eyes, baked to crispy perfection.

Ingredients

  • Hot dogs (regular or beef)
  • Store-bought crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • Honey mustard (for eyes)
  • Optional: garlic powder or smoked paprika
  • Cooking spray or butter (to grease baking sheet)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough and separate into triangles. Slice each triangle into thin strips about 1/4 inch wide.
  4. Wrap the strips diagonally around each hot dog, leaving gaps to resemble mummy bandages and a small space near one end for the face.
  5. Place wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spaced apart.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
  7. Remove from oven and dot small amounts of honey mustard onto the face area to create eyes using a toothpick or tip of a knife.
  8. Return to oven for 2-3 more minutes to warm the mustard.
  9. Serve warm, fresh from the oven.

Notes

Do not wrap dough strips too tightly to allow puffing and crisping. Use cold crescent dough for easier slicing. Add honey mustard eyes near the end to prevent burning. Tent with foil if browning too fast. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat in oven to maintain crispiness.
