These Easy Crispy Mummy Hot Dogs with Mustard Eyes are a quick, playful Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll dough with a crispy texture and tangy mustard eyes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Classic beef or pork hot dogs (or turkey/veggie dogs)
  • 1 standard 8-ounce can (about 227g) crescent roll dough
  • Yellow mustard for the eyes
  • Optional: ketchup or spicy mustard for dipping
  • Optional: cheese slices cut into thin strips (for cheesy mummies)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface and gently press seams together to form one sheet.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough into thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips in a zig-zag or criss-cross pattern, leaving small gaps so the hot dog peeks through.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the baking sheet spaced about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  8. Use a toothpick or tip of a spoon to dot two small mustard eyes on each mummy.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, spicy mustard, or ranch.

Notes

Use chilled crescent dough for easier slicing and wrapping. Cut dough into thin strips for crispiness. Leave gaps between dough strips to prevent sogginess. Let hot dogs cool slightly before applying mustard eyes to prevent running. Watch baking time closely to avoid burning. Parchment paper is preferred over foil to prevent sticking.
