Easy Halloween Dirt Cups - featured image

A quick, no-bake Halloween dessert featuring layers of creamy chocolate pudding and cream cheese filling topped with crushed Oreo ‘dirt’ and gummy worms. Ready in under 15 minutes with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (3.4 oz / 97g) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk (for pudding)
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream, cold
  • 8 oz (225g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 package (14.3 oz / 405g) Oreo cookies
  • 1 bag gummy worms, for garnish
  • ¼ cup (45g) mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos in a food processor or zip-top bag until you have fine crumbs with some small chunks. Reserve ½ cup of chunks for garnish.
  2. Whisk the instant chocolate pudding mix with cold milk according to package directions (usually 2 cups milk) for 2 minutes until thickened. Refrigerate for 5 minutes to firm up.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, vanilla extract, and sugar (if using) until smooth and creamy.
  4. In a separate chilled bowl, whip the cold heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the whipped heavy cream into the cream cheese mixture until combined. Then, fold in the prepared chocolate pudding until just combined.
  6. Assemble the cups by layering the cream cheese pudding mixture and crushed Oreo ‘dirt’ in serving cups, ending with a thick layer of dirt on top.
  7. Garnish with reserved Oreo chunks and gummy worms. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature to avoid lumps. Keep heavy cream and mixing bowls cold to ensure proper whipping. For best texture, assemble cups close to serving time to prevent sogginess. Can be made dairy-free using coconut cream and dairy-free cream cheese.
