A quick and easy Halloween punch for adults, combining apple cider, bourbon, and ginger ale with spooky garnishes like a frozen ice hand or floating eyeballs. Ready in 5 minutes, it’s the perfect festive drink for a weeknight Halloween party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups apple cider (unfiltered is best)
  • 1 ½ cups bourbon (or spiced rum)
  • 2 cups ginger ale (good brand like Fever-Tree or Canada Dry)
  • ½ cup orange juice (fresh squeezed or store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 cinnamon stick per glass (for garnish)
  • Ice ring with frozen fruit or plastic spiders (for spooky effect)
  • Plastic eyeballs or gummy worms (for garnish)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the ice ring: The night before or at least 4 hours before serving, fill a bundt pan or small loaf pan halfway with water. Add apple slices, cinnamon sticks, fresh cranberries, or plastic spiders. Freeze until solid (3-4 hours). Add more water to cover the fruit and freeze again.
  2. Combine the liquids: In a large punch bowl or beverage dispenser, pour in 4 cups apple cider, 1 ½ cups bourbon, ½ cup orange juice, and 2 cups ginger ale. Stir gently with a wooden spoon. If using maple syrup, stir it in now.
  3. Taste and adjust: Dip a small cup into the punch and taste. Adjust sweetness or strength by adding more ginger ale, bourbon, or cider as needed.
  4. Add the ice ring: Run warm water over the bottom of the frozen bundt pan for about 10 seconds to release the ice ring. Gently slide it into the punch bowl.
  5. Garnish: Float apple slices on top. Drop in plastic eyeballs or gummy worms. Add a cinnamon stick to each glass. Tuck rosemary sprigs around the edge of the bowl if desired.
  6. Serve immediately: Ladle the punch into cups or mason jars, ensuring each glass gets a cinnamon stick and garnishes. If using a beverage dispenser, open the spigot and let guests serve themselves.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, skip the bourbon and add extra ginger ale and sparkling water. Use a mid-range bourbon like Bulleit or Maker’s Mark. Apple cider is preferred over apple juice for better flavor and body. Add ginger ale last to preserve bubbles. The ice ring melts slowly and prevents dilution. Leftover punch can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days, but add fresh ginger ale before serving again.
