A quick and easy bourbon peach BBQ sauce that combines the warmth of bourbon with the natural sweetness of peach preserves, perfect for grilled chicken and summer cookouts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup peach preserves (smooth or chunky)
  • ¼ cup bourbon
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather and measure all your ingredients.
  2. Combine peach preserves, bourbon, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently to dissolve the sugar and loosen the preserves until the mixture bubbles gently.
  3. Add Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to incorporate all spices evenly.
  4. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Let it cook gently for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens and deepens in color. Add a tablespoon of water if the sauce is too thick.
  5. Optional: Blend the sauce using an immersion blender or regular blender for a smoother texture.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, vinegar, or sugar as desired.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using or storing.

Notes

Simmer the sauce gently to avoid burning and to meld flavors properly. Adjust seasoning after cooking to suit your taste. Brush sauce on chicken during the last 5 minutes of grilling to prevent burning. Sauce keeps refrigerated up to one week and freezes well.
