  • Strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Blueberries
  • Blackberries (optional)
  • Green grapes, washed and whole
  • Raspberries
  • Figs, quartered (if in season)
  • Plums, thinly sliced
  • Kiwi slices
  • Brie or Camembert cheese
  • Aged cheddar cheese
  • Goat cheese
  • Manchego or nutty semi-hard cheese
  • Prosciutto slices
  • Salami or soppressata
  • Smoked ham or turkey slices (optional)
  • Marcona almonds or roasted pecans
  • Mixed olives (green and black, pitted)
  • Cornichons or pickled vegetables
  • Honey or fig jam
  • Baguette slices, toasted or fresh
  • Artisan crackers (seeded, crispy, or whole grain)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fruit (10 minutes): Wash all fruit thoroughly. Pit cherries and slice peaches, plums, and figs thinly. Hull and halve strawberries, slice kiwis, and leave grapes whole. Arrange on a plate.
  2. Slice the cheeses (5-7 minutes): Cut hard cheeses into bite-sized chunks or thin slices. Use a cheese knife for soft cheeses to make wedges or dollops. Place cheeses on different areas of the serving board.
  3. Arrange the charcuterie (5 minutes): Fold or roll prosciutto and salami slices. Layer near cheeses with some space between.
  4. Fill small bowls (2-3 minutes): Portion olives, nuts, and pickles into small bowls and place on the board.
  5. Add breads and crackers (2-3 minutes): Slice baguette thinly and toast if desired. Arrange breads and crackers around the board edges or in a basket.
  6. Finish with drizzles and garnishes (optional, 1-2 minutes): Drizzle honey over soft cheese or scatter fresh herbs like mint or basil. Add fig jam next to goat cheese.

Notes

Keep fruits dry to avoid sogginess. Let cheeses sit at room temperature 15-20 minutes before serving for best flavor. Avoid overcrowding the board. Prep fruit and cheese ahead but assemble just before serving. Use fresh seasonal fruits for best taste. For vegan version, skip cheeses and charcuterie and add nuts, roasted chickpeas, grilled veggies, and hummus.
