A gourmet twist on classic grilled cheese, featuring creamy brie, tangy cranberry sauce, and peppery arugula nestled between buttery, crispy bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 thick slices of sourdough or artisan bread
  • 34 ounces brie cheese, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cranberry sauce (whole-berry preferred)
  • 1/2 cup fresh arugula
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
  • Optional: sea salt or honey for a sweet-and-salty combo

Instructions

  1. Slice the brie into thin pieces, wash and pat dry the arugula, and prepare the cranberry sauce.
  2. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat for about 2 minutes.
  4. Place one slice of bread, butter side down, onto the skillet. Arrange sliced brie evenly across the bread.
  5. Spread a generous amount of cranberry sauce over the brie.
  6. Top the cranberry sauce with a handful of fresh arugula.
  7. Place the second slice of bread on top, butter side up, and gently press down with a spatula.
  8. Cook for 3-5 minutes on each side, flipping carefully with a spatula, until both sides are golden brown and the brie has melted.
  9. Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for 1-2 minutes before slicing in half.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Use room temperature brie for faster melting. Avoid overloading with cranberry sauce to prevent messiness. Experiment with different breads or add-ins like walnuts or honey for extra flavor.
